labspace africa

LabSPACE Africa is a private company that provides facilities to both international and local researchers from South Africa. Facilities that are available include research space as well as space to store samples for the long-term, as well as space in our climatic units to conduct stability tests. Our aim is to cut down on equipment costs, lab overheads, and operational costs to ensure that research is carried out more efficiently and cost-effectively.

LabSPACE operates its own analytical Chemistry services. It provides lab as well as office space for industry, academic and private researchers. It also provides access to all of our analytical equipment and general analytical tools that can assist with sample preparation to reports.

We are looking to construct LabSPACE Africa facilities in South Africa that give our customers and us a competitive advantages in various areas of research.

If you are a client looking to establish an alliance or lease laboratory space, LabSPACE gives them access to analytic labs at competitive prices to manage their own labs without the expense of running your own laboratory.

The laboratory space is included in operational procedures that are compliant and pertaining to the local regulatory and the safety of personnel, as well as the treatment of chemical and biological waste.

Contact us to reserve space at our facility or assist with the process of creating your own space.

Equipment

Private sector labs have to deal with high risk and cost-intensive equipment purchases. LabSPACE Africa is working with leading industry players to supply analytical equipment. Equipment is readily available with required analytical support at out Midrand facilities. However, equipment can also be placed on lease to our client's facility to be used for a specific purpose, ensuring that our clients does not get spent on instruments that are only used occasionally or even only once. All equipment is maintained and maintained by trained staff and maintenance records will be made available after completion of a project.

Grant applications are currently in the process of being delayed projects due to academic institutions being incapable of purchasing expensive equipment. LabSPACE Africa will accelerate the process and provide researchers with the chance to determine the most suitable option for them before they make a decision or even utilize the equipment in our facilities.

BIOBANKING

Biological samples constitute the backbone of clinical and research trials. Samples from backup trials or research samples are typically stored to be used in the future for analysis, and the preservation of these samples is essential for future study or reanalysis. LabSPACE Africa has long-term storage units at various temperatures available (5degC; -20degC; -80degC and -160degC). When samples are received by LabSPACE African, they are labelled with cryo stickers, then placed in regular (2ml), cryo boxes and then entered into our cloud-based LIMS. They are continuously monitored by our Beyond Wireless remote temperature monitoring system as well as backup power and contingency planning are in place.

Frequently Asked Questions

Mycotoxins, which are toxic substances made by mold or fungi, can be poisonous. They can be harmful to humans if they are consumed, absorbed into skin, or inhaled. Even a small amount of mycotoxin could cause serious health problems for animals or humans, and even death. Mycotoxicosis is the result of mycotoxins poisoning. This condition is likely familiar to you if your coffee contains moldy coffee.

Intoxication can result from mycotoxin contamination in cereals and other feed products, particularly in farm animals. Effective analytical tools are needed to analyze the feed for toxic fungal metabolites. The current methods include an extraction step, a clean up step to remove unwanted co-extracted matrix elements and a separation step that allows for precise detection. For most mycotoxins, quantitative methods of analysis use immunoaffinity clean up with high-performance liquidchromatography (HPLC), separation in combination with ultraviolet and/or fluorescence detection.

Food, animal feed and food additives ingredients can be tested for melamine.

Melamine screening, analysis and evaluation of food-related products:
For food, agricultural products, raw materials, and ingredients, melamine testing can be done. Intertek laboratories offer cost-effective and quick testing. The melamine testing labs can quickly receive samples.

Intertek offers melamine analysis and detection services to food and agricultural companies, retailers, importers, food manufacturers, and food processors. Laboratory analysis of processed foods, animal food, wheat gluten, rice protein concentrate, and corn gluten is what melamine testing entails. The Intertek laboratories offer the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), recommended analytical methods for melamine screening, testing and quantitative analysis using Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry(GC-MS).

Melamine analysis, detection capabilities:

  • Checking food ingredients for melamine
  • Quantifications of the levels of melamine in tainted foodstuffs and ingredients
